Location/GPS Issues

Resolving issues when location data isn't recorded.


Symptoms

  • No location data in photos
  • "Unable to get location" message
  • Photos not showing on map
  • Location is inaccurate

Solutions

Step 1: Check Location Permission

  1. Device Settings > Apps > WorkCam
  2. Permissions tab
  3. Check Location permission
  4. Set to Allow while using app or Allow always

Step 2: Check Device Location Services

  1. Device Settings > Location
  2. Confirm location services are ON
  3. Confirm mode is High Accuracy

Step 3: Check WorkCam GPS Settings

  1. WorkCam Settings > Camera
  2. Confirm Auto GPS Recording is ON

Step 4: Check GPS Signal

Environments where GPS signal is weak:

  • Indoors
  • Underground
  • Between tall buildings
  • Cloudy weather

GPS signal is best in open outdoor areas. Waiting briefly before capture allows GPS to stabilize.

Step 5: Restart App

  1. Completely close WorkCam
  2. Relaunch
  3. Check GPS icon

Specific Issues

Location Not Recording at All

No Location

Check in order:

  1. Allow location permission
  2. Turn ON device location services
  3. Turn ON WorkCam GPS setting
  4. Test outdoors

Ways to improve GPS accuracy:

  1. Use High Accuracy mode
  2. Capture in open outdoor areas
  3. Wait briefly before capture (GPS stabilization)
  4. Keep Wi-Fi on (location assist)

Can't Get Location Indoors

Indoor GPS

GPS signal is weak indoors.

Alternatives: 1. Use Wi-Fi-based location (lower accuracy) 2. Manually add location after capture 3. Capture outdoors


Battery Saver Mode Impact

Battery Saver

Battery saver mode may limit GPS.

  1. Turn off battery saver mode
  2. Or set WorkCam as exception

Check GPS Status

On Camera Screen

Check GPS status icon:

Icon Status
Location (active) GPS signal good
Location (blinking) GPS searching
Location (inactive) GPS off or no signal

Check Accuracy

  1. Check media detail info
  2. Check GPS coordinates and address
  3. Check location on map

Add Location Later

If location wasn't recorded during capture:

  1. Open media detail screen
  2. Edit > Add Location
  3. Select location on map or use current location
