Delete Category¶
This guide explains how to remove unnecessary categories.
How to Delete¶
Step 1: Open Category Management Screen¶
- In Gallery, tap Menu (≡)
- Select Category Management
Step 2: Select Category to Delete¶
Long press the category you want to delete.
Or tap the delete icon () next to the category.
Step 3: Confirm Deletion¶
A confirmation popup appears.
Before Deleting
Deleted categories cannot be recovered. You must select how to handle media belonging to that category.
Step 4: Select Media Handling Method¶
If there is media in the category to be deleted:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Move to Another Category | Select another category and move |
| Move to Uncategorized | Change to no category status |
Step 5: Deletion Complete¶
Tap the Delete button.
Deletion Complete
The category is removed from the list.
Precautions When Deleting¶
Media is Not Deleted¶
Important
Deleting a category does not delete the media (photos/videos).
Media will be:
- Moved to another category, or
- Become "Uncategorized"
If It's the Default Category¶
Deleting Default Category
If you delete a category set as the default:
- Default category setting is cleared
- Category selection screen appears when capturing
Set a new default category after deletion.
Pre-Deletion Checklist¶
Check before deleting a category:
- [ ] Is there media belonging to that category?
- [ ] Which category should the media be moved to?
- [ ] Is it not set as the default category?
- [ ] Have you shared the changes with team members?
Merging Categories¶
If you want to combine two categories into one:
- Decide which category to keep
- Move media from the category to delete to the category to keep
- Remove the category to delete
Bulk Move
You can bulk change categories using multi-select in Gallery.
