Permission Settings

This guide explains the permissions required for Workcam to function properly and how to configure them.

Required Permissions List

Required Permissions

Camera Taking photos and videos Cannot use capture features
Microphone Audio recording during video, voice memo attachment Videos recorded without sound, voice memos unavailable

Optional Permissions

Permission Purpose If Not Granted
Location GPS coordinates when capturing, map features Saved without location data, map features limited
Notifications Background sync status display Cannot receive notifications (sync still works)
Storage Import external media Cannot import external photos

How to Set Permissions

On First App Launch

When you first launch the app, permission request popups will appear sequentially for each permission.

  1. A permission request popup appears
  2. Tap Allow to grant the permission
  3. Once all required permissions are granted, you can use the app

If You Deny Permissions

If you deny required permissions (Camera, Microphone), you cannot use those features. You can change permissions later in settings.

Changing Permissions Later

To grant previously denied permissions or revoke granted permissions:

Method 1: Use App Settings Menu

  1. Tap the Settings icon in the Workcam app
  2. Tap Permission Settings
  3. Select the permission you want to change and adjust it

Method 2: Change in System Settings

  1. Open your device's Settings app
  2. Tap Apps or Applications
  3. Find and tap Workcam in the app list
  4. Tap Permissions
  5. Tap each permission to select Allow or Deny

Camera Permission

Features Requiring Camera Permission

  • Photo capture
  • Video recording
  • Document scanning
  • Barcode/QR code scanning

Permission Options:

  • Allow: Camera access while using the app
  • Deny: Cannot use capture features

Microphone Permission

Features Requiring Microphone Permission

  • Sound recording during video capture
  • Voice memo attachment

Permission Options:

  • Allow: Microphone access while using the app
  • Deny: Videos recorded without sound, voice memos unavailable

Location Permission

Features Requiring Location Permission

  • Recording GPS coordinates in metadata when capturing
  • Displaying capture locations on map
  • Location-based media filtering

Permission Options:

  • Always allow: Location access even in background (not recommended)
  • Allow only while using the app: Location access only when app is open (recommended)
  • Allow only this time: One-time permission
  • Deny: Location data not recorded

Privacy Protection

Location permission is optional. You can turn off location permission when capturing at sensitive locations.

Notification Permission

  • Cloud sync progress status
  • Upload/download completion notifications
  • Sync error notifications

Troubleshooting Permission Issues

"Permission required" message keeps appearing

  1. Completely close the app
  2. Change the relevant permission to Allow in system settings
  3. Relaunch the app

Permission setting options not appearing

On some devices, if you selected "Don't ask again", the app cannot request the permission again.

Solution:

  1. Go to device Settings > Apps > Workcam > Permissions
  2. Manually grant the required permissions
