Initial Setup¶
This guide walks you through the initial setup process when launching WorkCam for the first time.
First App Launch¶
When you first launch the app, a welcome screen appears and you will proceed through several initial setup steps.

Step 1: Terms Agreement¶
- Review the Terms of Service
- Review the Privacy Policy
- Check the required terms agreement boxes and tap the Next button

Step 2: Grant Permissions¶
The app requires the following permissions to function properly:

| Camera | Required | Taking photos and videos |
| Microphone | Optional | Audio recording during video capture, voice memos |
| Location | Optional | GPS data recording and map features |
| Notifications | Optional | Background sync status notifications |
How to Grant Permissions
When each permission request popup appears, tap Allow.
You can also change permissions later in the settings.
Step 3: Create Default Categories and Tags (Optional)¶
You can create categories and tags to organize your captured media efficiently.
Categories¶
Categories are the primary way to classify your media. Each media item belongs to one category.

Category Examples
- Site Photos
- Work Records
- Inspection Items
- Project A
Tags¶
Tags allow for more flexible classification. You can add multiple tags to a single media item.

Tag Examples
- Urgent
- Completed
- Needs Review
- Client A
- Floor 1
Categories vs Tags¶

Setup Tips
- Categories: Create based on projects or work types
- Tags: Create for status, priority, or detailed attributes
- You can skip this step and add them anytime later
Step 4: Connect Cloud Service (Premium Feature)¶
Connect a cloud service to automatically back up your captured media.

Supported Cloud Services:
- Google Drive
- Dropbox
- OneDrive
- Box
- Nextcloud
- ownCloud
Cloud Connection is Optional
You can use all basic app features without connecting to a cloud service.
You can connect to cloud services anytime later in the settings.
