Sorting

This guide explains how to change the sort order of gallery media.


Sort Criteria

Sort Criteria Description
Capture Date Based on when photo/video was captured
Added Date Based on when added to the app
Filename Alphabetical/numerical order
File Size Based on file size

Sort Order

You can select ascending/descending for each sort criteria.

Order Description Example
Ascending Small -> Large Oldest first, A -> Z
Descending Large -> Small Newest first, Z -> A

How to Change Sorting

Sort Menu

Step 1: Open Sort Menu

  1. Tap the More (:) button at the top of gallery
  2. Select Sort

Step 2: Select Sort Criteria

Tap the desired sort criteria.


Step 3: Select Sort Order

Tap the same item again to toggle between ascending/descending.

Sort Indicator

The current sort criteria shows an up or down arrow next to it.


Default Sorting

Default

Default sort is Capture Date Descending (newest first).


Sorting Usage Examples

View Newest Photos First

  • Capture Date + Descending
  • Most recently captured media appears at top

View Oldest Photos First

  • Capture Date + Ascending
  • Useful for reviewing from project start in order

Find Large Files

  • File Size + Descending
  • Useful for storage space management

Find by Filename

  • Filename + Ascending
  • Useful for finding files with specific naming conventions

Grouping and Sorting

Date Grouping

When sorting, media can be grouped and displayed by date.

Grouping Settings

  1. More (:) > Sort
  2. Enable/disable Group by Date option

Grouping Advantage

Grouped by date makes it easier to find media from specific dates.
