Recording Videos

Detailed guide on how to record videos with Workcam.


Supported Resolutions

Workcam supports the following video resolutions:

Resolution Quality Recommended Use
4K (2160p) Highest quality When detailed recording is needed
1080p (Full HD) High quality General work documentation (recommended)
720p (HD) Standard quality Storage space saving

Resolution and Storage Space

Higher resolution results in larger file sizes.

  • 4K: Approximately 350MB per minute
  • 1080p: Approximately 130MB per minute
  • 720p: Approximately 60MB per minute

Basic Recording Method

Step 1: Open Camera

Tap the Camera icon () in the bottom navigation bar.


Step 2: Switch to Video Mode

  1. Tap the Mode switch button next to the shutter button
  2. Or swipe left/right on the screen
  3. The shutter button changes to a red circle

Step 3: Start Recording

Tap the red shutter button to start recording.

When recording starts:

  • Recording time appears at the top of the screen
  • The shutter button changes to a red square
  • A red dot blinks

Step 4: Stop Recording

Tap the red square button to stop recording.

Recording Complete

When recording is complete, the video is automatically saved, and appears in the bottom left thumbnail.


Features During Recording

Zoom Adjustment

You can adjust zoom while recording:

  • Pinch gesture to zoom in/out
  • Use the zoom slider on the left side of the screen

Focus Adjustment

You can tap the screen to change focus while recording.

Smooth Focus Transition

A natural transition effect is applied while focus is changing.


Front/Rear Camera Switch

To switch cameras while recording:

  1. Tap the Camera switch button ()
  2. The screen may briefly freeze during the switch

Audio Settings

Microphone Mute

If you don't want to record audio:

  1. Tap the Microphone icon () on screen
  2. The icon changes to
  3. Tap again to unmute

Using External Microphones

External microphones are automatically recognized when connected:

  • Wired microphone (3.5mm)
  • USB-C microphone
  • Bluetooth microphone

Using Shooting Modes

Normal Mode

  • Suitable for most situations
  • Stable quality

HDR Mode

Video HDR Support

HDR video is only supported on some devices. On unsupported devices, the option will not be displayed.

  • Scenes with high brightness differences
  • Backlight situations

Stable Recording

Shake Prevention

  • Hold the device with both hands
  • Keep your elbows close to your body
  • Use a tripod or mount when possible
  • Slightly bend your knees when walking while recording

Battery Management

Video recording consumes significant battery:

  • Check sufficient battery before recording
  • Prepare a portable battery for long recordings
  • 4K recording consumes more battery

Storage Management

  • Check available space before recording
  • Be especially careful with 4K recording
  • Free up space with cloud sync

Before Recording

  • Check storage space and battery
  • Enable GPS location recording
  • Verify resolution settings (1080p recommended)

While Recording

  • Record overall scene at start and end
  • Capture important parts slowly, up close
  • Add verbal descriptions
  • Avoid sudden movements

After Recording

  • Play back to verify content
  • Classify with tags
  • Record situation with notes

Troubleshooting

If recording stops midway

  1. Check if storage space is sufficient
  2. Check battery level
  3. Check if device is overheating
  4. Restart the app and try again

If sound is not recorded

  1. Check if microphone permission is granted
  2. Check if mute is not enabled
  3. Check if microphone port is not blocked
  4. Check if another app is using the microphone

If video stutters or lags

  1. Try lowering the resolution (4K → 1080p)
  2. Close other apps
  3. Restart the device
  4. Free up storage space
