Location Settings¶
Guide to GPS location recording settings for photos and videos.
What is Location Recording?¶
When location recording is enabled, shooting location (GPS coordinates) is saved as metadata in photos and videos.
Use Cases¶
When Location Information is Useful
- Field photos: Recording which site the photo was taken at
- Work reports: When location verification is needed
- Map feature: Viewing shooting locations on map
- Media organization: Sorting photos by location
How to Set¶
Turning Location Recording On/Off¶
- Tap Settings () on the camera screen
- Find Location recording
- Toggle on or off
Checking Location Permission¶
Location permission is required to record location information.
- Go to device Settings > Apps > Workcam
- Tap Permissions > Location
- Select Allow only while using the app
Location Display¶
On Camera Screen¶
When location recording is active, a GPS icon () appears on the camera screen.

|---|---|
| (active) | Location recording on, GPS receiving |
| (blinking) | Searching for GPS signal |
| No icon | Location recording off |
In Saved Media¶
After capture, you can check location in the media's Info or Metadata.
- Latitude/longitude coordinates
- View location on map
Integration with Map Feature¶
Media with location information can be viewed on the Map screen.
- Tap Map () in the bottom navigation
- Markers appear at shooting locations
- Tap a marker to view media from that location
GPS Accuracy¶
Factors Affecting Location Accuracy
High accuracy:
- Outdoor, open spaces
- Clear weather
- Stable GPS signal
Low accuracy:
- Indoor, underground
- Between tall buildings
- Inside tunnels
- Unstable GPS signal
Privacy Considerations¶
Caution When Sharing Location Information
Photos with location information can reveal where they were taken when shared.
When shooting at sensitive locations:
- Turn off location recording before shooting
- Or remove location information before sharing
Removing Location Information¶
To remove location information from already captured media:
- Select media in gallery
- Tap Info or Metadata
- Use the Delete location info option
When Exporting
When exporting or sharing media, you can choose whether to include location information.
Battery Consumption¶
GPS and Battery
Location recording uses GPS, which increases battery consumption.
Consider turning off location recording when battery is low.
Troubleshooting¶
If location is not recorded¶
- Check if location permission is granted
- Check if location recording setting is enabled
- Check if GPS signal is being received (move outdoors)
- Check if device's location services are enabled
If location is inaccurate¶
- Move to outdoor open space
- Wait for GPS signal to stabilize
- Restart the device
