HDR Mode¶
Features and usage guide for HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode.
Overview¶
HDR mode captures both bright and dark areas clearly. It achieves a wide brightness range by rapidly capturing multiple photos and combining them.
How It Works¶
- Multiple photos are rapidly captured at different exposures
- The best parts from each photo are extracted
- Combined into a single optimized image
Features¶
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Capture speed | Slower than Normal mode |
| Processing time | Requires combining time |
| Result | Both bright and dark areas clear |
| Suitable for | High contrast scenes |
Recommended Use Cases¶
When HDR Mode is Effective
- Backlight situations: Indoor shooting with windows in background
- Bright sky with dark buildings: Outdoor architecture photography
- Strong shadow scenes: Sunny outdoor conditions
- Indoor and outdoor visible together: Scenes including doors or windows
When Not to Use¶
When HDR Mode is Not Suitable
- Moving subjects: May appear blurry due to combining
- Fast burst shooting: Processing time causes delay
- Uniform lighting: Little to no effect
- Dark environments: Night mode is more effective
How to Use¶
Turning HDR Mode On¶
- Tap the HDR button at the top of the camera screen
- The button changes to active state (highlighted)
- Capture as normal

Turning HDR Mode Off¶
- Tap the active HDR button again
- The button returns to inactive state
Shooting Tips¶
For Best Results¶
HDR Shooting Tips
- Hold device steady: Minimizing shake since multiple photos are combined
- Subject should be stationary: Most effective with still scenes
- Wait after capture: Wait until combining is complete
- More effective with high contrast: Scenes with both shade and sunlight
Example Comparison¶

Backlight Situation¶
| Mode | Result |
|---|---|
| Normal mode | Subject dark, or background blown out white |
| HDR mode | Both subject and background rendered clearly |
Indoor with Window¶
| Mode | Result |
|---|---|
| Normal mode | Indoor dark, or outdoor view blown out white |
| HDR mode | Both indoor and outdoor view rendered |
Cautions¶
HDR Shooting Cautions
- Processing time is needed after capture (1-2 seconds)
- Next capture may be delayed during processing
- Moving subjects may cause ghosting (afterimages)
- HDR video is not supported on some devices
Next Steps¶
- Normal Mode - Default shooting
- Night Mode - Dark environments
